The Baptized Pentecostal Church of Holiness, Louisville, Kentucky

The Baptized Pentecostal Church of Holiness, located at 1606 West Chestnut Street in Louisville, Kentucky, was founded in 1900 in Louisville. The original facility—what is now the fellowship hall—has been around since the 1880s and was a German Lutheran church. Following a series of early relocations, the church in 1964 settled in its present location in Louisville’s historic Russell Neighborhood. In 2001, the church was blessed to complete its present worship center, with the original structure converted into a fellowship hall; the expansion of the church increased seating capacity to approximately 600 with additional space for 300 in the fellowship hall. We thank God for our facility, determining to ensure its use as a house of prayer for all nations (Mark 11:17a, NKJV).

The overarching purpose of this church is to advance and extend the kingdom of God according to the commands of Christ to [g]o into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature (Mark 16:15), and to make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded … (Matthew 28:19-20). To that end, we believe that the “church” is much more than a building, and that it is the responsibility of worshipers to leave the comfort of the four walls of the worship center to work in our community and effect positive change. By following closely behind the Lord Jesus Christ, our church family strives to establish God’s righteousness in—and help meet the needs of—community, city, state, and world according to the assurance that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Philippians 4:13).
